A 2021 Writing Recap And A Late November Update!

Hello, fellow readers and writers! I hope all of you reading are well.

I thought it would be nice to recap the year, considering that a lot has happened with me this year in writing poetry and fiction! This will be my last major writing update post for 2021 unless I decide to release one for 2022 early. The reason I’m releasing this now in November, rather than December, is because I expect life outside of writing will be quite busy for me during December with the holidays coming up, and I likely won’t have any major update posts about my writing being posted during December thanks to that.

First, let’s recap what happened this year:

Some Of My Work Was Published!

My flash fiction piece “Waterlogged Boredom” was published in the anthology “Sensorially Challenged, Volume 3” this past May.

Additionally, my poems “Summer Heat”  and “12 ‘o’clock” were published in Wingless Dreamer’s collections “Depths Of Summer” and “It’s 12 ‘o’ clock” during July and August respectively!

Considering that none of my original work was accepted for publication and/or published last year, I consider it a big accomplishment that even a few of my works were published this year. I hope to continue this streak of published works into the next year!

An Epic Year Of Writing A Whole Crossover Fanfiction Series And Honoring The Last Story’s 10th Anniversary!

During this year, I had two major fanfiction-related projects. The first one was an entire The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild/Yakitate!! Japan crossover series entitled “Trials Of The Wild.” This resulted in an entire collection of fanfiction one-shots and multichapter fics that ended with “The Coronation” in mid-November. I am so grateful for the love and support that this series received, and it was absolutely fun writing it and sharing it for all of you to enjoy reading.

The other project involved me expanding the The Last Story fanfic, “The Last Story: Breath Of The Wild,” into full multichapter fanfic. I originally posted it as a standalone one-shot during 2020. However, I felt that there was more to that story that could be told further and decided to expand on it.

Coincidentally, it also happened to be The Last Story’s official tenth anniversary this year! I am so glad to have the opportunity to expand the fanfic as a way to honor its tenth anniversary. The Last Story was a game that hugely influenced me creatively, and I hope that my writing gives you the same sense of magic as playing the game did for me.

I also finished writing my Hustle Cat/Bravely Second crossover “A Light Amid The Darkness” during January 2021, and I additionally posted an Animal Crossing one-shot entitled “Dancing The Night Away.” I also have further plans to release a few oneshots during this month (more on that in a later section!).

A NaNoWriMo 2021 Victory!

As many of you know from my previous update post, I participated in writing for NaNoWriMo 2021 after missing the last two Camp NaNoWriMo events. However, I won this year’s NaNoWriMo event—and that happened eight days after the event started.

I’m still floored that I managed to complete NaNoWriMo in that short amount of time. Currently, my NaNoWriMo project is now undergoing revisions and I really do hope to do something big with this particular project once it’s polished—perhaps consider self-publishing or pitching to traditional publishers down the road. I don’t know how soon those revisions will be necessarily done right now, especially with the busy Christmas holidays coming up, but I hope to give a further update on that in the New Year.

Now that I’ve finished recapping this whole past year for me as a writer, there’s one more question I need to answer:

What’s Coming Up Next For Dec. 2021 And For This Upcoming 2022?

I want to remind you again that book reviews on this blog will continue until mid-December. After that, there will be a few bonus book-related blog posts being posted in the latter half of December, so stay tuned for those! Regular weekly book reviews will resume in January 2022.

For new fanfics coming your way, I am excited to announce that I will be posting a few oneshots during the early half of December 2022. I posted a surprise oneshot earlier during the latter half of November, but I will also be posting oneshots on December 6th, 10th, and 13th. Think of these as early Christmas surprises for you to read and enjoy!

I’m additionally happy to announce that a new multichapter fanfic is on the way for The Last Story fandom in January 2022! It currently does not have a title, but I promise there will be one by the time posting chapters for this fic begins. This fic is hugely inspired by the concept of the anime/manga series My Next Life As A Villainess: All Routes Lead To Doom! and I hope you look forward to reading it. The first chapter will be posted either during the first or second week of January 2022, and I hope to post new chapters weekly.

Thank you to everyone for supporting my writing journey so far. It’s been so wonderful to continue sharing my writing journey with you, and I hope to continue to do so going into the New Year! I also want to wish you an early Happy Holidays in advance as well!
