Hello, everyone! I hope you’re having a wonderful year of reading.
Firstly, thank you to all of you for the love and support you’ve given this blog during the year. I appreciate all the likes and comments you give on my book reviews, and thank you for following me in my reading and writing journey so far. I’m very happy to keep sharing book reviews and fanfiction with all of you, as well as to share my first officially published poem during this year.
I’m writing this post to give you all a quick preview of what will happen for this December on this blog. As the days count down to Christmas and other winter holidays, I’m posting more than the usual book reviews during this month, as a treat for all of you reading. Without further ado, here’s what I have planned:
Dec. 1st : A Book Review!
I’m kicking off December by reviewing “Of Wolves & Witches” by Elena Lawson on December 1st. If you’re interested in books like “The Alchemist’s Touch” with the magical school setting, this might be of interest to you.
December 3rd: Fanfiction Recommendations are back!
I’ll be posting my “Fanfiction Recommendations of 2019,” with nine recommendations! I previously wrote posts for 2018 and 2017, so I figured I might as well continue on with this year as well. Consider it a holiday tradition on this blog!
December 10th: Fanfiction.net vs. Archive Of Our Own: Part 2!
I previously wrote a post comparing Fanfiction.net and Archive Of Our Own, but it was more from the perspective of a reader, given that I didn’t have an Archive Of Our Own account at the time. Now that it’s been over a year since I got one, it’s about time to put them to the test again, from my perspective as a writer. Which one will emerge victorious?
December 17th: Another Book Review!
I’ll be reviewing “Dragon’s Blood” by Jane Yolen on December 17th. For those that read books like “Eragon” with dragons involved, this may be of interest to you.
December 20th: Book Tag Time!
I haven’t written a Book Tag post in a while, and I found the perfect one for the holidays—”The Joy Of Christmas” Book Tag!
December 24th: Present Time—An Analysis Is Here!
Let’s be honest: It’s been way too long since I’ve written analysis of anything. I previously analyzed anime/manga, such as how “School Live!/Gakkou Gurashi” does the zombie apocalypse right, explored de-isolation and decluttering in “Magic-Kyun Renaissance” and tackled family issues in “Yakitate!! Japan.” On the literary side, I gave a general overview of themes in “The Black Swan” by Mercedes Lackey, examined trauma affecting the main characters of Noelle Stevenson’s “Nimona” as well as provided proof for two of the characters, Ambrosius Goldenloin and Ballister Blackheart, previously being in a relationship before the events of “Nimona.” Yes, I devoted an analysis to a potentially canonical ship (I think it was later confirmed by Stevenson herself). I couldn’t help myself, given the fanfiction-writer side of me.
This time, however, I turn to video games for a short but sweet analysis on the game “Harvest Moon: Magical Melody,” and gratitude. How do these two things match up? You’ll have to find out on December 24th!
All month, at various times: FANFICTION!
There will also still be fanfiction updates and/or new fanfics being posted throughout December. Keep an eye out for them on my Tumblr, Twitter and Facebook for those fics, as well as updates on other pieces I’m working on!
“But wait!” You might be crying out. “Only two book reviews this month!? How will I cope without the lack of book reviews!?”
For those hungry for more than two book reviews, don’t worry: Regularly-scheduled book reviews will resume in January 2020. There will be plenty more to come in the new year!
