A Late March 2022 Writing Update: Site Revamp For April 2022 And More!

Under Construction sign

Hello, fellow readers and writers!

It’s been a while since the last writing update, and a lot has happened since then, so here’s a quick look at what I’ve been working on, what’s being currently posted, and—most importantly—a big website revamp announcement at the end.

Fanfiction:

Back in January, I started posting chapters for a new The Last Story fanfic called “Avoiding His Doom!” I’m still currently posting new chapters every Monday until completion (with occasional bonus chapters released on Fridays), and I highly encourage you to check it out! If you enjoy the concept of villains trying to redeem themselves before it’s too late, please check it out. I hope all of you enjoy reading it!

I also hope to post more oneshots this year, though that will probably come later in the year (May/June) than sooner. I hope you enjoy reading those when they’re posted as well!

Original Fiction:

I have several projects in the works, ranging from full novels to shorter works.

Novels:

I’m currently editing an entire murder mystery trilogy that I drafted during the last two years and, as of this writing, I finished edits for the first book and second books! Yay!

Of course, I still have a long way to go before those books reach publication, such as researching whether I pursue traditional publishing vs. self-publishing, getting covers made, obtaining ISBNS, and other technical things that go into having a book published. However, the knowledge that I’m getting close to done writing/editing the first book is still nice to know for myself. My hope is to also finish up edits for the whole trilogy and also write (and edit) other novels and related works.

I also have a kidlit book currently drafted as of March 9th! I started writing it in late February, and it’s been exciting for me to writing something aimed towards a younger demographic than my other works (as the murder mystery novels are aimed for an adult audience).

Short Fiction And Poetry:

Meanwhile, I’ve been writing more flash/micro fiction as well as poetry, and I’m trying to submit more often to literary magazines as always.

I was extremely fortunate to have one of my poems, “Crocuses,” featured in Create Waterloo’s World Poetry Day event just last week! Please check it out if you haven’t done so yet!

Camp NaNoWriMo April 2022:

I am also pleased to announce that I’ll be participating in Camp NaNoWriMo during April 2022! I plan to use this time to start drafting a new fantasy novel, with a goal of 20,000 words by the end of the month. I’ll mainly post updates about its progress on Twitter and/or Tumblr. Be sure to follow those if you haven’t yet and want to know more about it!

Site Update:

Now, for the biggest announcement—this website will be under construction/maintenance mode starting on April 1st (and no, this is not a joke!).

This also means that weekly book reviews will be on hiatus during April or until the site is completely revamped.

The biggest change, however, is changing the domain name of this website from mysticalauthoress.ca to clarislam.ca. I will also change the associated Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr names as well during this time so they are all uniform with the revamped website.

Why am I making this specific change?

The main reason is that I realized, recently, that as an author who writes in several genres (poetry and fiction), I should have my author site reflect this. Mystical Authoress was a name I used initially for the domain because I thought I would mainly write in one or two genres. Since I am expanding the genres that I write (both in what types of fiction I write (for both in terms of audience and genre) along with poetry), I decided that changing it to my own name would be more suitable for the future, especially as more of my works are published (including, hopefully, full novels and poetry collections sooner than later in the future).

I will continue posting fanfiction on Fanfiction.net and Archive Of Our Own under the Mystical Authoress name. However, I hope that by changing the official website’s domain name to have it under my own name, it will better reflect myself as an author and writer. These updates will (hopefully) not impact ongoing fanfiction updates. But, I will give further information about fanfiction updates on social media if that changes.

I hope to have these changes officially finished by mid-April, but I will give updates on my Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr if finishing the changes needs more time as well, so stay tuned!

Thank you for your patience during this next month. I appreciate all the support you’ve given me whether it be through reading my work, sharing it with others, and so on. May the writing journey continue!

Thank you for following and supporting my writing journey, and I hope you look forward to reading more of my work!
