I’m back with another book review, and this time I’m reviewing the light novel “Restaurant To Another World, Volume 3” by Junpei Inuzuka and illustrated by Katsumi Enami! I’ve reviewed the first two light novels before, and I thoroughly enjoyed both of them. I’m happy to pick up another book in this series and read it. Here’s a summary so we know what it’s about:

“THE CULINARY ADVENTURES CONTINUE

Behind a magical door that connects our world to another is a strange little restaurant known as “Western Cuisine Nekoya,” which serves up an array of delicious dishes. But which is the tastiest of them all? The debate has raged for thirty years without consensus, and continues to do so as the bell rings each Saturday and the customers flood in.”

Plot Development: 5 out of 5 stars

Worldbuilding Development: 5 out of 5 stars

Character Development: 5 out of 5 stars

For those that read my reviews of the past two books, you know by now that these books feel more like compilations of multiple short stories that takes place in relatively the same setting (the restaurant and/or the fantasy world the customers come from) rather than a full-length novel. However, there are some background sideplots that impact a couple of the characters. This helps maintain interest in reading this whole volume. This book also introduces a new main side-character: Black, also known as Kuro. She, like Aletta, also starts working at the Nekoya Restaurant as a waitress, and it’s fun to read Black and Aletta getting to slowly know each other over time.

The other characters featured in this book, both new and old, are fun to read overall. I enjoyed reading each of their backstories and learning more about the world they come from. Because all of them come from different places within the same fantasy world, it gives the reader a big opportunity to learn about their culture, their traditions, and so much more.

The food is also excellent to read about, just like it was in the past two books. I also enjoy reading how specific foods sometimes link into the characters backstories and/or places they come from. It helps with both character development and worldbuilding by showing off these fine details.

Overall, I’m rating this book out 5 of 5 stars!

This book is another hit in the series for its heartwarming stories, interesting characters, and delicious-sounding (and delicious-looking) food featured. If you haven’t read this series yet, I highly recommend it, especially if you like short, sweet stories and lots of food in your literature.
