Happy December, readers!
I hope all of you had a lovely November, and that December is just as good or even better!
This is a bit of a longer writing progress post since I have many updates and news to announce, so let’s get started!
Help Us Win The Indie Ink Awards!
During this past November, I had the opportunity to have both my books “Winner Takes All” and “Engagement To Die For” be nominated for the 2023 Indie Ink Awards! The Indie Ink Awards exclusively showcases small press and independently-published books. At this time of writing, I still don’t know which categories my books have been nominated for yet. However, I should find out soon. Once I do find out, the next round (taking place during this month only) involves voting for those books to reach the Top 10 finalists in their nominated categories!
I hope to share more information in another blog post, as well as on my socials and newsletter, once the nominated categories are confirmed. Thank you in advance for your support! Let’s make the Top 10 Finalists together!
Three Poems Published In We Have Food At Home:
As I mentioned very recently in both my newsletter and a blog post two days ago, I recently had three short poems published in We Have Food At Home! I’m grateful for the opportunity to have my poems published in this lit mag again.
Thanks again to the editor, Praya, for accepting these poems for publication. Click here to check them out!
The 2023 End Of The Year Smashwords Sale Is Coming…
I’m happy to announce that both my books, “Winner Takes All” and “Engagement To Die For,” will be 25% off during Smashwords’ 2023 End Of The Year Sale!
The sale begins on December 15th and ends on January 1st! If you’re looking to purchase a murder mystery to read over the holidays, consider checking it out, along with countless other books that will be on sale during this event as well!
Keep an eye out on socials for more details. Thanks in advance for the support!
Original Fiction & Poetry:
I’m working on a larger project outside of my amateur sleuth murder mystery book, “Bloody Fantasia,” and my kidlit fantasy book. I got most of the outlining and worldbuilding done by the end of November. Now I just have to write out the actual story. I don’t really have much else to say about it at this time since it’s still in its beginning stages, but I hope to give more updates about it in January or February 2024 if I make enough progress.
I also hoped to got some more short story and poetry submissions to lit mags done last month! For this month, I want to use this time to draft new poems or short stories during this month so I can edit and submit them in January.
Book Reviews & Blog Posts:
For those that missed the book reviews from November, you can check them out below:
- “His Majesty The Demon King’s Housekeeper, Vol. 1” by Saiko Wadori
- “Critical Role: The Mighty Nein – The Nine Eyes Of Lucien” by Madeleine Roux
I want to give you all the heads-up that I will not be posting book reviews for December 2023! This is because I want to take the time to prepare for, and enjoy, the winter holidays coming up. This also means taking time early this month to prep material for January and February 2023 (yes, I plan that far ahead for the new year!). Biweekly book reviews will return on January 2nd, 2024.
I’ve also decided that I will be not be writing a Worst 5 Books I Read In 2023 post. I know I’ve written these types of posts with past years. However, given that I’m not posting as many book reviews as I used to, it doesn’t seem fair to compile a “worst 5” list from less books reviewed.
Look forward to reading these upcoming blog posts this month:
- Fanfiction Recommendations Of 2023 (Dec. 5th, 2023)
- Top 5 Books Read In 2023 (Dec. 19th 2023)
I hope you enjoy reading them in place of book reviews!
Newsletter & Email Updates:
There will only be one newsletter sent to subscribers this month, on December 12th. This is to accommodate Christmas, the winter holiday season, and New Year’s day coming up.
Typically I send two newsletters a month (on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month). However, I will only send one newsletter this month since the second one would otherwise be sent on the 26th. Regular newsletters every 2nd and 4th Tuesday per month will return on January 9th, 2024.
I also will be taking holiday time off from December 22nd to January 7th, 2023. I won’t be answering any emails sent during this time period, but I’ll answer them in the new year! Thanks for your understanding and patience!
Thank you to everyone who supported my writing journey in 2023!
I appreciate all the support, including subscribing to my newsletter, reading my published poems, supporting my transition to more-heavily focusing on producing original fiction and poetry, reading these blog posts and/or supporting “Engagement To Die For” being released earlier this year.
I hope to keep up the momentum going into the next year for my writing journey, and look forward to what I have coming up next as well. Have a great winter holiday as well! See you in 2024!
