“The Greatest Showman” Book Tag!

Happy March, everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful February, and that you’ll have an amazing March! This time, I’m trying out “The Greatest Showman” Book Tag!

I need to be honest—I have NOT seen “The Greatest Showman” (and here you may gasp in horror and yell at me to go watch it), but I do love some of its music and I found the tag just recently. It was made by The Irish Reader, and I figured that it would be fun to do, so here it is!

The Greatest Show – Pick a book that is the best book you’ve read and gave you all the feels.

“Red Dragon” by Thomas Harris. The main reason it gave me all the feels was because of Francis and Reba’s romance, which I thought was spectacularly written overall. There’s a lot of love between these two, and though it’s a tragic romance for reasons I won’t spoil, it definitely made me feel a lot about these two.

A Million Dreams – Pick a book that left you dreaming about it after you finished it.

“Eyes Like Stars” and the rest of the Theatre Illuminata Trilogy by Lisa Mantchev. I haven’t reviewed this trilogy before, but I have reviewed a book of hers called “Ticker” in the past. Personally, I think Mantchev’s writing strengths come through her descriptions and imagery featured in her works, and it really helps set the tone for the setting of the books overall. The Theatre Illuminata Trilogy is especially strong at this, in my opinion, because the world of that series got to play with the imagery of fairytales and plays galore.

Come Alive – Pick a book where a character finally accepts themselves

Bell from the “Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls From A Dungeon!?” series by Fujino Omori. He has grown so much throughout the series since the first book that I have to commend him for it. He learns to accept himself as who he is instead of trying to live up to an idealized hero, but it’s through that that he becomes a hero in a way, throughout the series.

The Other Side – A book/character that changed your opinion on them

Xain from Garrett Robinson’s “Nightblade” and “Academy” series. At first I wasn’t too fond of him early on, but he quickly grew on me due to his later development. He fits the Jerk With A Heart Of Gold trope quite well, struggles with magestone addiction and will literally do anything for his young son Erin.

Never Enough – An Author or book series you could never get enough of

Ranata Suzuki. I know she only has the one book of poetry out, but (in the tune of Summer Lovin) TELL ME MORE TELL ME MORE, ARE YOU GONNA WRITE MORE!?

I absolutely LOVED her poetry collection “The Longest Night,” and if you haven’t read it, YOU SHOULD.

This is Me – A book you love despite everyone hating it

The entire “White Trash Zombie” series so far by Diana Rowland is the closest thing I can think of. I actually don’t know if people necessarily like it mostly or not, but as far as I read so far, I personally think it’s really fun. Angel is an amazing protagonist and the worldbuilding around all the zombie-related stuff is quite good.

I’ll be honest; I haven’t fully kept up with the series, but I really do hope to catch up this year. It was really fun reading the first four books, and I think two new ones came out in the past while.

Rewrite the Stars – A bookish OTP that overcome a lot to finally be together

Noemi and Abel from “Defy The Stars” and its sequel “Defy The Worlds” by Claudia Gray. Given that Abel is an AI and Noemi is a human, they had to overcome a lot; from Noemi realizing that Abel was kind of just as humane as her, and very much acting as his own independent self, to Abel trying to realize his own self and understand who he really is, to all the surrounding forces around them threatening their lives at every turn, it’s fair to say they’ve went through a lot. I heard there’s a third book in the series that also serves as the last book, so I hope to get my hands on that this year and read it.

Tightrope – An Author/book series that gives you trust issues

It’s definitely the Great Library series by Rachel Caine. I’ve read the first three books; “Ink And Bone,” “Paper And Fire” and “Ash And Quill,” but I stopped after the third book because the quality of the series overall was just getting worse. The main couple kept getting less convincing despite my absolute love of the beta couple, and I’m going to be honest—I don’t think I’ll be reading this series any further. I’m just that disappointed in it overall.

From Now On – A book you’ve ignored for so long and finally need to read

“The Circle” series by Ted Dekker. I’ve been meaning to read it, because I got it in my hands for the past few months, but I just…haven’t been able to get around to reading it. I hope I’ll get to do so soon!
