Hello, fellow readers and writers! I hope all of you are well.
I promised news about an updated posting schedule last time, as well as some Camp NaNoWriMo-related news. Here are some updates for what you can expect, going into this April!
My posting schedule will be updated as follows for April:
Mondays: New oneshots in the Yakitate!! Japan/The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild crossover series, “Trials Of The Wild,” will be posted!
New oneshots in “Trials Of The Wild” will continue to be posted on Mondays! You can check it out here on Archive Of Our Own or start reading the series here on Fanfiction.net!
Tuesdays: New Book Review every week!
There will be a new book review posted every week on this site, on Tuesdays as usual.
Fridays: A new chapter of my The Last Story fanfic, “The Last Story: Breath Of The Wild,” will be posted!
I will continue posting new chapters of “The Last Story: Breath Of The Wild” every Friday! You can read it here on Archive Of Our Own, or here on Fanfiction.net!
I will not be participating in Camp NaNoWriMo this April.
The reason for this is as follows: I enjoyed participating in Camp NaNoWriMo/NaNoWriMo. However, I realized that I’m burned out from participating in these events. Last year, I got involved in both Camp NaNoWriMo April 2020 and July 2020, and even participated in NaNoWriMo itself for the first time in 2020 (and I achieved all the goals set in all of them, both Camp NaNoWriMo goals being 25,000 words while NaNoWriMo was 50,000 words). That’s a lot of writing in those three months alone (100,000 words in total!) to finish those huge projects. I also participated in these events ontop of regularly writing and posting book reviews and fanfics as well.
After some reflection early in March, I realized that participating in Camp NaNoWriMo would be unhealthy for me, mentally and emotionally. This is because participating would put too much pressure on myself to be as prolific as possible.
Camp NaNoWriMo/NaNoWriMo mainly focuses on the quantity of words that you write, rather than quality. Yes, I know that editing is a potential goal option instead of writing new words. I also do know it’s a great way to motivate oneself so you don’t delay finishing that first draft. However, it still ultimately focuses on achieving a certain number of words, and that pressure to get that done within a month can be extremely overwhelming, whether it’s 25,000 words or 50,000 words.
I am incredibly grateful that participating in these events brought both support for my work and progress for writing those first drafts. However, taking a break from participating in Camp NaNoWriMo/NaNoWriMo is the right thing to do for myself at this time.
Instead of participating in Camp NaNoWriMo, I’ve decided to use April (and ultimately all of this spring season) to enhance my skills as a writer. I want to learn more and practice without the pressure to churn out thousands words in a month. This includes learning more about writing poetry and flash fiction to write even better works. Though I won’t be participating in Camp NaNoWriMo, I hope to use this April to sharpen my skills and hone my craft.
For those of you that are participating in Camp NaNoWriMo, please let me know in the comments below! I’d be happy to cheer you on with whatever goals you aspire to achieve. I hope that all of you look forward to reading what I have in store for you this April!
